A project the size of Starbase, Louisiana doesn't hire in one wave. Construction jobs come first, spread across several years, followed by a smaller, higher-paying set of permanent operational roles once the site comes online. That timeline matters, because construction-phase workers and long-term employees often look for very different things in a place to live.

How far are you willing to commute, and to where? Are you looking to buy, or would renting make sense for now? What's your timeline, and is temporary housing a factor? How familiar are you with flood zones and flood insurance in coastal Louisiana?
A few communities worth a look
Thibodaux and Houma, home to Canal & Main's two offices, offer a mix of established neighborhoods and newer construction. Lafayette is the most established commercial and healthcare hub in Acadiana. New Iberia, Broussard, and Youngsville sit along and near the Highway 90 corridor, each with a different mix of housing stock and proximity to the coastal site.
